How to Eat, Exercise, and Sleep If Your Body is Not Burning Fat

If your body is not burning fat and you are beginning to feel frustrated by your slow or limited weight loss then don't give up, just take a different approach. Not Burning Fat
1. Eat more protein. Protein has a "heating up" effect on the body because it requires a lot of energy to break down and this raises your metabolic rate. Aim to include a portion of protein in every meal.
2. Eat fewer carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are easy for the body to break down which makes them good "energy foods" but if you overfeed your body these foods or you eat refined carbs (think candy and cookies) you get too much of a good thing and your body actually makes it easier to store the carbs as body fat and slows down your ability to burn fat.
3. Start your day with water. This is a simple trick but it is a way of jump starting your metabolism. Overnight your body dehydrates and when this happens your metabolism drops. Rehydrate first thing in the morning with a glass of water.
4. Cardio with weights will give you a fat burning boost. Slow steady cardio such as walking on a treadmill will burn off calories but the benefits stop as soon as you get off the treadmill. To increase fat burning for the entire day you want to combine your cardio workout with weights. For instance you could do 2 minutes of jumping jacks and then a set of push-ups. This combination has been show to burn fat 44% better.
5. Give your body some down time. For your body and your metabolism to run efficiently during the day you must rest at night. Give your body 7 to 8 hours of sleep and it will reward you with fat burning during the day.
